NEW ORLEANS -- Marine administrative message 108/15 announces guidance on the qualification process of the 2015 Active Reserve Officer Accession Board.
Headquarters Marine Corps is currently accepting applications from qualified Marine officers ranking from first lieutenants to majors, who are interested in joining the AR program. The mission of the AR program is to provide a force of well-trained and experienced Marines to serve in critical roles as full-time staff support to the Marine Corps Reserve.
Marine officers accepted into the AR fill a variety of ground, aviation, and logistics billets located at Reserve training centers and major Marine Corps commands and installations worldwide.
First lieutenants who are transitioning from the active component, Reserve officer commissioning program Marines or other officers must have a mandatory drill stop date of Oct. 1, 2015 or earlier in order to qualify for the selection board. In addition, captains who have not previously been passed for promotion in the Reserves, and majors with a date of rank of Sept. 1, 2012 or later, also qualify for the selection board.
Applicants must hold a current Reserve commission or agree to accept a Reserve commission prior to serving in the AR program. The initial service obligation in the AR program is 36 months, and all applicants must be worldwide deployable.
The complete application and supporting documents must be received by April 14, 2015; late submissions will not be accepted. Application packages must be endorsed by the first O-5 level commander in the officer’s chain of command.
Officers selected into the AR program will be assigned to billets based on availability and the needs of the Marine Corps.
