Virginia529 College Savings Plan has teamed up with the Marine Corps Marathon to become presenting sponsor of the MCM Kids Run on Saturday, Oct. 24. The MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529 will feature 3,600 young runners, ages 5 to 12, completing a one-mile course in Arlington, Va., inside the Pentagon North parking lot. Annually, the MCM Kids Run is hosted as part of MCM Weekend.

"Partnering with Viginia529 enhances the goal of the MCM Kids Run to connect running with the body and the mind for overall wellbeing," says MCM Director Rick Nealis.

Virginia529 helps individuals save for future higher education expenses at eligible colleges and universities around the world. Because earnings on 529 accounts like those offered by Virginia529 grow tax free when used for qualified higher education expenses, many parents and grandparents choose them as the higher education saving vehicle for their loved ones.

"I am excited for Virginia529 to sponsor the MCM Kids Run because it creates opportunities for us to remind parents with elementary-aged children of the importance of planning and saving for future higher education costs," says Mary Morris, Virginia529 CEO. "Saving now can help anyone tame the Tuition Monster and avoid crippling student loan debt."

The MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529 is open for online registration at www.marinemarathon.com. Individual kids can register with aide of a parent or guardian. The MCM Kids Run will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 with kids running in waves from 9:30 to 11:40 a.m. The MCM Kids Run includes Camp Miles, a free interactive health and fitness festival geared for kids.
