MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- In recognition of the 40th anniversary of "The
People's Marathon," the Marine Corps Marathon is inviting the public
to join in a "Celebration Concert" Friday, Oct. 23 from 3 to 4
p.m. The MCM Celebration Concert is free and will be held in the
family-friendly atmosphere on the Woodrow Wilson Plaza, located outside the
Ronald Reagan Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, D.C.
"United We Sing" will perform patriotic music
live on the Plaza. The three dynamic voices that make up the trio of United We
Sing performs patriotic standards such as "God Bless America," and
"America the Beautiful" as well as other hits like the Andrews
Sisters' "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Don't Sit Under the
Apple Tree." In addition, the trio performs many renowned Broadway tunes.
Each member of United We Sing has performed on Broadway,
at Disney parks and events. In addition, the trio has performed more than 500
military shows to include tours of state and federal veterans' hospitals - all
to thank military members for their service and sacrifice. United We Sing will
perform during MCM Weekend at the MCM Kids Run Saturday, Oct. 24 at the
North Pentagon Parking lot and again Sunday, Oct. 25 at the MCM Finish
Festival in Rosslyn.
Attendees to the concert will receive miniature Marine
Corps flags and will enjoy an appearance by Marine Corps Historic Half mascot
Capt. Fred McHalf.
More than 30 entertainers will perform along the 26.2
miles of the MCM course Sunday, Oct. 25 for the thousands running the
Marathon event that begins in Arlington, Va. and winds throughout the nation's

The ceremonial kickoff to MCM Weekend begins Friday,
Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m. at the opening of the Health & Fitness Expo. The
public is invited to attend the two-day Expo on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 at
the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, located at 801 Mount Vernon Place
in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Voted the "Best Marathon in the Mid Atlantic"
and "Best Marathon for Spectators," the Marine Corps Marathon honors the dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Also
known as "The People's Marathon," runners from all walks of life
participate in the MCM, the largest marathon not to offer prize money. The 40th
MCM sponsored by Arlington County, Brooks, Hyundai and Aetna will be hosted in
Arlington, Va. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015. No federal or Marine Corps endorsement
