The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, completed temporary support efforts for Operation Allies Welcome at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA.

From Aug. 29, 2021, to Dec. 22, 2021, Task Force Quantico provided temporary housing and support services for approximately 5,000 relocated Afghans aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. Task Force Quantico’s mission has concluded as of Dec 22, 2021, with the departure of its last relocated Afghans.

The Department of Defense was proud to make these temporary accommodations and services available to the relocated Afghans at Task Force Quantico. The life support provided was in accordance with international standards for support to vulnerable populations, including relocated Afghans.

The Department of Defense continues to support the Department of State and interagency efforts to resettle Afghans across the United States as part of its support to the Department of Homeland Security-led Operation Allies Welcome.
