FEMALE DRESS BLUES PROTOTYPE EXPANDED FIELD TEST
19 May 2014
The Marine Corps expands the field testing of a request to re-design the female officer and enlisted blue dress uniform to a style similar to the male blue dress coat with the traditional collar.  The Marine Corps Uniform Board’s President is developing a prototype to support this initiative, which will establish service uniformity in appearance and function.  The initial prototype is based on the Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps’ women’s red dress coat with dress blue fabric rather than red.  Female officer and enlisted Marines, in select Marine Corps units, will wear-test each uniform for at least six months, beginning in the October/November timeframe. The wear-test results and recommendations will be forwarded to the Marine Corps Uniform Board for consideration in late spring/summer of 2015.
