MARINE CORPS BODY COMPOSITION AND MILITARY APPEARANCE PROGRAM

This Order establishes procedures for the effective management of the MCBCMAP. Commanders will ensure all Marines comply with the requirements and standards contained in this Order. Policy and procedural guidance is contained in the enclosures.

This change revises policy for pregnancy and post-partum policy. Marines who are pregnant are exempt from participating in the Body Composition Program (BCP) or the Military Appearance Program (MAP) for at least nine months after the birth event. Following this nine-month period, a Marine birthparent is expected to meet body composition standards at the next regularly scheduled unit Body Composition Evaluation (BCE). If already formally assigned to BCP or MAP, Marines will be placed in an inactive status during pregnancy and for nine months after date of the birth event. After the nine month period, the Marine will continue with the remainder of the BCP or MAP assignment.
