The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is responsible for Test and Evaluation (T&E) of aircraft, weapons systems, components, and related equipment.

The USNTPS at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, Maryland, provides instruction to experienced pilots, NFOs, UAS MAGTF EWOs, and engineers in the processes and techniques of aircraft and systems test and evaluation. The school investigates and develops new flight test techniques, publishes manuals for use by the aviation flight test MCO 1542.3D 30 MAY 2019 2 community, and standardizes flight test techniques and project reporting.

The USAFTPS, at Edwards Air Force Base (AFB), California, trains pilots, navigators, and engineers to conduct flight test and evaluation of research-prototype and production aerospace vehicles, systems and weapons. The school develops, implements, and conducts the theoretical and applied academics and flying curriculum.
