As defined in Marine Corps Reference Publication (MCRP) 5-12C, Marine Corps Supplement to the Department of Defense Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms, information operations (IO) are the integration, coordination, and synchronization of all actions taken in the information environment to affect a relevant
decision maker in order to create an operational advantage for the commander. The Marine air ground task force (MAGTF) executes IO as an inherent element of all operations to enable and enhance the overall ability to conduct successful military actions.
