Clark Henry, spread Henry’s ashes as part of his memorial service on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Feb. 21, 2023. Henry enlisted during World War II, received a field commission during the Korean War and received a Silver Star during the Vietnam War. Austin was killed in 1968 while serving as a squad leader with 1st Battalion, 27th Marines in Vietnam. Austin was killed when he sacrificed himself and exposed himself to enemy fire. - Cpl. The WWII SBD Dauntless dive-bomber showcases the heroic actions of the commanding officer of Marine Scout Bombing Squadron 232 and his observer/gunner over Guadalcanal in August 1942.
