Marines with Geodetic Survey Team, 1st Intelligence Battalion, check a GPS for accuracy during a survey of the Naval Auxiliary Landing Field at San Clemente Island, Calif., Sept. 25, 2013. The GPS is used to find the exact elevation of the airfield. The data collected from these GPS points are used as a reference point to find elevations of obstructions in any possible flight path near the landing zone.
