Marines with Battery A dig through frozen earth to emplace an M777A2 lightweight 155 mm howitzer January 18 during Artillery Relocation Training Program 13-4. The battalion divided its time in the field into three phases, each progressively more challenging. In the first phase, the participating batteries executed self-generated fire missions. During the next two phases, elements with the battalion and regiment directed the targets for the batteries to fire upon. Battery A is with 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, currently assigned to 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
