Recruit Fidel Herrera Jr., Platoon 3203, feels the effects of chlorobenzylidene malonitrile, or CS Gas during the Confidence Chamber at Edson Range aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., July 14. . Before recruits were let out of the chamber, their instructor ensured that they were comfortable in their abilities to use the mask. Herrera is a native of Graham, Texas and was recruited out of Recruiting Substation Wichita Falls.
