Members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Special Weapons Protection Unit demonstrate casualty packaging and extraction drills in a simulated contaminated zone Dec. 1 at Camp Naha. The casualty evacuation was completed only after an immediate decontamination was done. An immediate decontamination is when casualties are sprayed with a solution to decontaminate them quickly, so they can be moved out of an affected area. The demonstration showed U.S. Marines with a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense background their decontamination process. The JGSDF members are with JGSDF Nuclear Biological Chemical Unit, 15th Brigade.
