Charles Lynn Lowder’s unit films the first Special Purpose Insertion and Extraction (SPIE) rigging demonstration for submission to Headquarters Marine Corps in hopes of making the rigging a commonly used method of troop insertion and extraction from combat zones. The method was approved and is still used in the Marine Corps today.
