The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage, and embarked 13th MEU participate in a cooperative deployment with the Indian vessel, INS Rajput, to test their ability to communicate and improve on maritime capabilities between partners, Dec. 26, 2018. The Anchorage is deployed as part of the Essex ARG Amphibious Ready Group. The Essex ARG and 13th MEU are a capable and lethal Navy-Marine Corps team deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.

During evaluations, drillmasters score the platoons based on their uniforms, bearing, movements, as well as the drill instructor’s cadence and sword control. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 1.
