The 2019 DoD Warrior Games end with the passing of the torch at the game’s closing ceremony at Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida, June 30, 2019. Lt. Gen. Michael Rocco, Deputy Commandant for Manpower & Reserve Affairs, received the torch with Maj. Gen. Juan Ayala (Ret), City of San Antonio Director of Military Affairs, to signify the Marine Corps’ partnership with San Antonio.. Next year’s games will be hosted by the U.S. Marine Corps in San Antonio, Texas. The DoD Warrior Games were established in 2010 as a way to enhance the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans and to expose them to adaptive sports.

Casey, 30, is from San Francisco and is a 2011 graduate of San Francisco State University. She is the only female AV-8B Harrier pilot in the Marine Corps. She recently deployed with Marine Attack Squadron 311 to the Middle East as part of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command. This is a rotational deployment that began in 2013 where Marines support U.S and allied operations within U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility, most notably, coalition operations against ISIS and other terrorist organizations. Upon the completion of her deployment, she will begin training on the new Joint Strike Fighter, the F-35B Lightning II.

United States Marine Corps Sgt. Lam, a native of San Jose, Calif., reported the accident, checked the injured and stood in the middle of the road directing traffic to allow emergency services to arrive.

The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage, and embarked 13th MEU participate in a cooperative deployment with the Indian vessel, INS Rajput, to test their ability to communicate and improve on maritime capabilities between partners, Dec. 26, 2018. The Anchorage is deployed as part of the Essex ARG Amphibious Ready Group. The Essex ARG and 13th MEU are a capable and lethal Navy-Marine Corps team deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.

Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 1.
