Philippine Air Force Airman Junnevee Cuenca points out a terrain feature to U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Tatyana Saldana during KAMANDAG 3 at Colonel Ernesto P. Ravina Air Base, Philippines, Oct. 9, 2019. The specific objectives of KAMANDAG, such as mutual defense, counterterrorism, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, promote realistic training that supports regional security. Cuenca, a native of Zamboanga City, Philippines, is a combat air controller with 710th Special Operations Wing. Saldana, a native of Tallulah, La., is a military policeman with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion. KAMANDAG 3 is a Philippine-led, bilateral exercise with participation from Japan. KAMANDAG is an acronym for the Filipino phrase “Kaagapay Ng Mga Manirigma Ng Dagat,” which translates to “Cooperation of the Warriors of the Sea,” highlighting the partnership between the U.S. and Philippine militaries.
