The U.S. Marine Band performs during an evening parade at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., July 31, 2015. U.S. Army General Martin E. Dempsey, chairman, Joint Chief of Staff, was the guest of honor for the parade at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., and Joseph F. Dunford Jr., 36th commandant of the Marine Corps, was the hosting official for that same parade. The evening parade began in 1934 and features the Silent Drill Platoon, the U.S. Marine Band, the U.S. Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps, and two marching companies. More than 3500 guests attend the parade every week.

The Evening Parade summer tradition began in 1934, and features the Silent Drill Platoon, the U.S. Marine Band, the U.S. Marine Drumand Bugle Corps alongside two marching companies. More than 3,500 guests attend the parade every week.

U.S. Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Maritime Raid Force practice an initial clear after fast-roping onto the amphibious assault ship USS Essex in the Indian Ocean July, 24. These Marines are assigned to India Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th MEU, and are members of the MRF’s security element. The Marines practiced fast-roping onto the flight deck and simulated clearing the ship. Elements of the 15th MEU, based out of Camp Pendleton, California, and embarked aboard the Essex, are conducting naval operations in the 6th Fleet areas of operation in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
