Marines use water to extinguish a fuel fire at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma during live-burn training Feb. 21. Bulk fuel specialists dispensed fuel into the training pit, and a Marine with Aircraft Rescue Firefighting ignited the fluid. The ARFF and bulk fuel specialist Marines then worked together to contain and extinguish the fire while enhancing communication and teamwork. The Marines are with ARFF, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Futenma, as well as Bulk Fuel Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.

The Marines are expeditionary airfield systems technicians with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Futenma, Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Japan. The aircraft is with Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533, Marine Aircraft Group 31, which is currently assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.

Marines and aircraft from VMM-262, VMM-265 and Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 flew approximately 4,700 miles from Okinawa, Japan to Brisbane, Australia to provide aerial support for President Barack Obama and Marine Helicopter Squadron One during the G20 Summit. When paired with the KC-130J, the Osprey is able to provide assault support to any location in the 105 million square miles that comprise the Marine Forces Pacific area of responsibility.
