FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq -- Sergeant Robert D. Pfeil II, a CH-53E Super Stallion crew chief assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465 out of Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, Calif., makes a position call while flying over Iraq on March 18. Pfeil, from St. Charles, Mo., was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal last year for heroic actions while deployed to the Horn of Africa region in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the second highest non-combatant medal awarded by the Department of the Navy to Marines and sailors.
