Gunnery Sgt. Victor Lopez, the Scout Sniper Chief Instructor with Weapons Platoon, Landing Force Company, bows to a Royal Thai Marine after presenting him with a green belt for being the most motivated student during the scout sniper training portion of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT). Each student was awarded a 7.62 round on a 550 chord necklace as a symbol of accomplishment and camaraderie. CARAT is an annual bilateral exercise held in Southeast Asia with scenarios and training tailored with input from the U.S. and host countries to meet evolving threats, such as counter-piracy and maritime interdiction operations. Lopez is a reserve Marine with 2nd Battalion, 23 Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. (Official Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Aaron Hostutler)
