Guest speaker Ronald Oba, 88, a veteran of World War II's famous 442nd Regimental Combat Team, speaks at the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial's 23rd annual Memorial Day observance May 29, saying, "This War Memorial Natatorium not only honors the more than 10,000 men and women from Hawaii who volunteered to serve in World War I; it's really a memorial that reminds us that freedom is not free." U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Commander Lt. Gen. Duane D. Thiessen served as keynote speaker, and MARFORPAC Marines provided military support to the ceremony.
