U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Bryan A. McDonnell/Released 110304-M-0000M-016.jpg

Major John O. Caldwell, director of public affairs, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, accepts four original 16mm film reels containing Marine Corps commercials from Mr. Richard Tschudin, a retired Hollywood director and former sailor. Tschudin served in the Navy during the Korea War era and later directed several commercials for the Marine Corps. Tschudin, who traveled from Fallbrook, Calif., told his son that donating these films meant more to him than receiving an Oscar or an Emmy because of his family’s tie to the military. The film reels will be archived and preserved by the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
