Sgt. James M. Pribyl shares war stories with fellow servicemembers of the year over dinner at Hurley's in New York. Pribyl, a logistics specialist with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Force, was the unit's Marine of the Year. The distinction has brought many unexpected honors to the New York native, including throwing out the first pitch at the opening game for the Mets; ringing the bell at the Stock Exchange; and the dinner at Hurley's. The Dinner, which was attended by the servicemembers of the year from Marine, Navy and Coast Guard units, was hosted by Ralph W. Slane, a former sailor turned pilot who's distinctions include being the fist pilot to fly commercially from New York to Tokyo. He has hosted a dinner for servicemembers of the year for the past 18 yeas during New York's annual Fleet Week celebration. (photo by Staff Sgt. David L. Crockett)
