The GySgt. D.W. Boatman Drive sign stands tall along the winding roads of eastern North Carolina for its second year as it continues to bring honor and remembrance to the countries service members. The town of North Topsail Beach honored Gunnery Sgt. Darrell W. Boatman by re-naming the road Marine Drive to GySgt. D.W. Boatman Drive during a memorial ceremony Dec. 7, 2005. The ceremony has become an annual event, being held at a various date each year, in remembrance of Boatman and other service members who have served their country.
