A recruit of Company G, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, descends from a 60-foot rappel tower Oct. 19 aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Rappeling is a controlled descent from a great height using ropes and a harness as a pulley system. Recruits gain confidence and overcome fear as they learn to trust their ability to correctly rappel and trust their gear.
