Rescue swimmer Cpl. Chad V. D’Ambrogi and hospital corpsman Petty Officer 3rd class John H. Nelson, both with Marine Transport Squadron One were amonsgt the members of the crew that rescued three missing children from the Croatan National Forest, Monday Feb. 18. After getting called on their “day off”, six crewmembers from VMR-1 rushed to the squadron’s hangar to board one of their beloved HH-46D Sea Knight’s affectionately referred to as “Pedro”. For most of the highly trained crew, this was the first time they carried out a real live search and rescue mission.
