Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Buffalo Systems Deputy Project Engineer Steven “Tate” Carow sits near the rear-door assist mechanism. The RDA is an upgrade developed to push and hold open the rear door aboard the Marine Corps Buffalo Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle. For Carow and his team, completion of this particular capability insertion helps to fulfill a critical requirement to improve crew survivability. The design uses a ruggedized motor controller, which activates a linear actuator and hydraulic cylinder.
