Vanessa Mckee, family readiness officer, Officer Candidates School, takes the front position for her tug of war team during OCS’ Spring Fling event aboard Marines Corps Base Quantico on April 7, 2013.It was a two-hour event filled with back-to-back family competitions, a bake-off and an egg hunt. The competitions included a sack race, dizzy bat race, egg race, tug of war and a 3-legged race. There were also two moon bounces and a bubble machine for the younger children. “We are a tight knit family here,” said Col. Kris Stillings, commanding officer, OCS. “It’s been a tough couple of weeks and we thought that it was important to bring the families together. There is nothing that can heal people better than children laughing and having a good time.”
