Maj. Gen. Steven Busby, the commanding general of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, took a moment to thank three infantry Marines for their quick thinking, leadership and unselfishness aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., June 18. The Marines, (from left to right) Lance Cpl. Joshua Phelps, a machine gunner with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment and Waterford, Mich., native, Cpl. Kyle Wells, a motor transport operator with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment and Fayetteville, Oh., native, and Cpl. Nathaniel Navarro, a mortarman with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, and Brownsville, Tx., native, saved the life of an injured motorcycle rider earlier this month when they came upon the accident and used their combat lifesaver training to stabilize the victim until emergency services arrived. According to Navarro, their response was instinct honed by their training for combat in Afghanistan.
