Mark Richter, right, measures the surface temperature of a prototype uniform material worn by Lance Cpl. Michael J. Cary June 19 at the Jungle Warfare Training Center. Cary and 32 other Marines’ core temperature, heart rate, skin temperature and respiration rate were continuously monitored through a physiological status monitor, to assess the performance of four prototype uniform materials. Richter is the program manager of the Marine Expeditionary Rifle Squad, Marine Corps Systems Command.
