Preston D. Flinders, rear, battles his wrestling opponent June 22 at Mae-no-hama Field during his second match in the Henoko Okinawa-Style Sumo Tournament. The objective of Okinawa-style sumo is to get the opponent on their back without the participants letting go of each other’s belts or using any kind of striking technique. Differing from Japanese sumo, Okinawa sumo closely resembles grappling and includes traditional martial arts attire, called a gi. Flinders is the 10-year-old son of Capt. Thomas S.
