Sgt. Charles Swope, team leader, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, performs a security patrol during a training exercise at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. Jan. 9, 2014. Swope, a native of Coral Springs, Fla., earned his Masters of Business Administration, completing part of his degree during his two deployments to Afghanistan. There were times when he would take academic tests in a classroom only hours after engaging enemy forces. He will attend his commencement ceremony May 2014.
