Gunnery Sgt. Oscar D. Jaramillo, left, answers evaluators’ questions about the potable water used for cooking in the Combat Logistics Regiment 37 field mess hall Feb. 20 at Camp Kinser. The evaluators inspected the Camp Kinser Mess Hall and the field mess as part of the Maj. Gen. William Pendleton Thompson Hill Memorial Awards competition. The awards annually recognize the accomplishments of Marine Corps food service workers and facilities. Jaramillo is a food service specialist and the field mess hall’s manager with Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The evaluators were two Marines with extensive food service backgrounds and a civilian who represents the National Restaurant Association.
