U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Timothy P. Hanson kicks the riot shield of U.S. Marines and Republic of Korea soldiers June 20 during integrated non-lethal weapons training as part of Korean Marine Exchange Program 14-8 at the 1st Republic of Korea Marine Division base in Pohang. U.S. Marines and ROK soldiers executed the training to improve their crowd control tactics. KMEP 14-8 is a combined, small-unit training exercise, which enhances the combat readiness and interoperability of ROK and U.S. military forces. The exercise familiarizes U.S. Marines with the Korean Peninsula and strengthens the existing relationship between ROK and U.S. Marines. Hanson is a Liverpool, New York, native, correctional specialist and non-lethal weapons instructor with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF. The ROK Army soldiers are with Military Police Company, 2nd Operational Command. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Drew Tech/Released)
