Col. Eric M. Mellinger, center left, meets with Sasebo City Mayor Norio Tomonaga, center, and members of his staff July 18 at the III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters on Camp Courtney. During the visit, Mellinger and Tomonaga discussed U.S. military and Okinawan relations, and the importance of the strong friendship between the two. Tomonaga visited the III MEF headquarters to meet the command staff of III MEF, build understanding of the Marine Air Ground Task Force and how the Marine Corps works with Navy for amphibious deployments and expeditionary operations.
