The Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Spartans defeated the 11th Marines Cannon Cockers 26 - 7 during the first game of the Commanding General's Cup Camp Pendleton Tackle Football League. Despite a close first half, the Spartans gained momentum by using a powerful run game to put them ahead 12 - 7. The Spartans plowed through the defense with two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to take the lead at 18 - 7. They then secured their victory with a 20 yard pass in the fourth quarter, shutting down the already struggling Cannon Cocker defense. Teams from various units on base compete on the gridiron every Tuesday.
