On Sept. 30, 2014, Marines from Marine Barracks Washington participated in the funeral for Major Kurt Chew-Een Lee, USMC (ret.) at Arlington National Cemetery. Major Lee was the first Asian-American Marine Corps officer and a legendary hero at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War. His exploits later became the subject of the Smithsonian Channel's documentary "Uncommon Courage: Breakout at Chosin."
