A recruit of Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, knocks his opponent down during a pugil stick bout at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Nov. 5. Recruits were told to play the role of offense or defense, and were given three 30-second bouts using the techniques they learned throughout their classes and events to give the opponent a striking blow to head.
