Sgt. Maj. Mario P. Fields judges the championship tug-of-war match between 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, and 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Nov. 14 during the Shanghai Commanders’ Cup. The Marines were challenged in nine events throughout the day. The crowd cheered as 1st Marines pulled their way to victory in tug-of-war and also claimed the commanders’ cup. The Marines are with various units from 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Fields, from Jacksonville, North Carolina, is the sergeant major of 4th Marines.
