Schilling examines the aircraft before it takes flight for Lava Viper 15.1-2. Lava Viper is a biannual exercise that enhances the joint operational skills of U.S. forces. Schilling is an F/A-18C Hornet mechanic with VMFA 323, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, California.
