CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters sit on landing pads after Marines fired GAU-21 .50-caliber machine guns from the doors of the helicopters Jan. 14 during Lava Viper 15.1-2 at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii. Exercise Lava Viper implements joint service capabilities, to include air-sea battle concepts. The helicopters are from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Marine Aircraft group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.
