Marines attached to Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force were afforded the opportunity to ride elephants, Feb 15 as part of a tour of the ancient city of Ayutthaya. Ayutthaya previously held the seat as Thailand’s capital for 417 years. Thirty-three kings of 5 dynasties ruled the kingdom during that time. The visiting Marines are in Thaland in support of Exercise Cobra Gold 2015, a Thailand /United States, co-sponsored multinational and joint theater security cooperation exercise, conducted annually in the Kingdom of Thailand, with 25 nations participating this year.
