U.S. Army Spc. Ryan A. Van Rickley sets up a 61mm mortar in a defensive position after executing an aerial night assault July 13 in the Shoal Water Bay Training Area, Queensland, Australia, during Hamel 15 in conjunction with Talisman Sabre 15. Hamel is a combined arms exercise designed to improve U.S. and Australian relations. Van Rickley, from San Diego, California, is a mortarman with Charlie Company, 3-509th Airborne Infantry Battalion.
