Corporals Marc A. Rivera, left, and David B. Gale get sprayed with OC during the Non-Lethal Weapons Instructor Course on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Aug. 27, 2015. Before the students earn instructor certification as non-lethal weapons instructors, they must familiarize themselves with the spray by experiencing its effects firsthand. Rivera, from Springfield, Massachusetts, and Gale, from Kennewick, Washington, are both chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense specialists with 3rd Marine Division Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and will have the collateral duty of non-lethal weapons instructors upon completion of the course.
