A Marine uses a Biometric Enrollment Screening Device to take an iris scan of a role player during a noncombatant evacuation operation training exercise Jan. 21, 2016 at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. Marines and sailors with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducted the training as part of Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise II, a pre-deployment training exercise designed to prepare them for their upcoming spring deployment. The BESD is a handheld portable device that collects and stores biometric information.
