Second Lieutenant Matt Bergman, a student with Combat Engineer Officer's course 3-16, uses a cut-off saw to aid in the repairing of a spall at an airfield damage repairs site at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Jan. 19, 2016. A spall is known as pavement damage that is no more then 5 feet in diameter and does not penetrate into sub-grade material. Gunnery Sergeant Jessie McDonald, a Combat Engineer Instruction Company instructor, holds the saws cord while supervising the training.
