U.S. Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, practice how to hoist or lower gear with ropes at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, April 14, 2016.The Marines learned how to use different rope-tying techniques to support missions involving rope. Prior to each deployment, the 31st MEU is thoroughly trained in a number of unique capabilities during a fast-paced workup cycle. This type of training allows the 31st MEU to be continually ready, even while the MEU is in garrison on Okinawa.
