U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Nicholas Berger, a platoon commander with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Africa, presents a plaque to the commander of the National Training Center for Gendarmerie Forces at the conclusion of a joint riot control exercise with U.S. Marines in St. Astier, France, May 13, 2016. This exercise helped reinforce the strong relationship between the United States and France and prepared the Marines and Gendarmes to work together in possible real-world scenarios at embassies around Europe and Africa.
