MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – Reconstruction of the Hana Like neighborhood aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii officially begins June 22, 2016 after a blessing and demolition ceremony. The ceremony was the official start of Phase 6, a multi-phased construction partnership where 276 homes will be torn down and rebuilt, which is part of the last major housing redevelopment on the Mokapu peninsula. The demolition site, workers and land were blessed by a Hawaiian minister, as per Hawaiian tradition for construction projects. This project will be the central community on the base, which will also include a pavilion, two large playgrounds and a basketball court. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Lance Cpl.
